Average or Index
For stocks, indicators of broad market performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average includes the shares of 30 large companies. Derived from statistical data that measure the state of the stock market or the economy, based on the performance of stocks or other meaningful components, such as the Consumer-Price Index.
